365 Wishes

Now that the long hangover New Year weekend is long gone and the new year is starting to become just another year, here are 365 wishes to brighten up your year.

May you have as much wisdom as intelligence,

As much peace as drive,

As much love, as pleasure

As much honour as pride

As much patience as speed,

As much beauty as gloss

One understanding for every loss

As much action as thought,

As much friendship as acquaintance

As much integrity as intelligence

May you see the opportunity in problems

May you believe in the possibility of miracles

And the ability to work towards them.

May you know that runs end, running does not.

That often the journey is more beautiful than the destination

That happiness is a conscious choice

That love is more beautiful than anything you compromise

That happiness is different from pleasure

having something to do with struggling, enduring and achieving

and bleeding and crying and sweating.

May you truly believe that impossible is nothing,

That anything is possible

And nothing impossible

That that that does not kill you makes you stronger

That when you go through hell you need to keep going

That life’s a difficult battle in which victory is determined

by what you do when the pain sets in.

That there is no substitute for common sense

That one idea can change your life

and too many can revolutionise it.

That the only limitation to the mind are those we acknowledge.

That doubt is often a luxury you cannot afford

And that often there is no better power than clarity

And yet you have to work in darkness

and suffer – willingly – because to suffer, is to remember.

That often emptiness is because you fail to realise

that which is greater than your life – the power to create.

That life is more about doing the most with what you have

Rather than perennially aspire for that which you don’t.

That always trying to be someone else,

is to lose the beautiful person you are.

That it is not for anyone else to make you give your best

That though they say that a hero can save the world,

you'll refuse to stand and wait.

That anything is created twice, first in your head then in reality

That today is the first day of the rest of yoru life

That today is also the last day of the past of your life

And hence, the future, does not equal the past.

That you can be rise higher and be greater than your circumstances

That you can be much much greater than your problems

That if you listen carefully to everyone you meet

At the end you will be someone else.

That you win some in life and you lose some

But as a fighter, you will never be second to none.

That truth and beauty are the same

Love and sacrifice – synonyms.

That sometimes you get more when you give.

That often when you think you have it all,

Is when you realise you have nothing at all.

That often understanding is more important than love

And love, at times greater than faith.

That not all things finish when they’re done

That chaos is the workshop of the creative

a journey in which you can get busy living, or always prepare for dying.

how far it is that they can go.

That in order to set the world right

we must begin on us with all our might.

That in life nothing happens by accident

And you can succeed only when you tick out failure as an option.

That you are as good as your worst day

And that ships are made for storms, not the bay.

That the greatest end of life is not knowledge, but action

That luck cannot smile on someone with little preparation.

That you are never given a burden you cannot carry

Never given a dream you cannot fulfil.

Okay, so it’s not really 365 wishes. Heck, I was never Einstein at maths.
